Max Elliot Anderson – Author Update

(1)

My NEW book, Lost Island Smugglers, is planned for release in June of this year, by Port Yonder Press. Two additional titles are planned for release in December. Those titles are Captain Jack’s Treasure, and River Rampage. This is part of a new series called The Sam Butler Adventure Series. I'm working on those revisions now.

Port Yonder plans to publish additional titles in 2011.

Baker Trittin – Tweener Press has faced the same economic difficulties as many other small businesses. As a result, they ceased operations last September, and new copies of my first 7 published books were no longer offered on Amazon as of December 31, 2010.

Used copies of these books can still be purchased on Amazon, and I still have a few new copies of each title. If you’re interested, please email me at mander8813@aol.com for ordering details.

(3)

A new publisher is looking at the possibility of re-releasing some of those first 7 books. If that happens, I’ll post information here. The titles are NEWSPAPER CAPER, TERROR AT WOLF LAKE, NORTH WOODS POACHERS, MOUNTAIN CABIN MYSTERY, BIG RIG RUSTLERS, SECRET OF ABBOTT'S CAVE, & LEGEND OF THE WHITE WOLF which are compared by readers and reviewers to Tom Sawyer, The Hardy Boys, Huck Finn, Nancy Drew, Harry Potter, Tom Swift, Scooby-Doo, Lemony Snicket, and adventure author Jack London.

(4)

Guideposts Books will publish a true-life story that I wrote called Two Circles of Angels. I’ll post information about that book when it is officially released.

(5)

I hope to have news for you soon from two additional publishers who have been considering my action-adventures & mysteries, written especially for boys.

(6)

Reviews of books from other authors, and resources such as the book, Why Boys Fail, by Richard Whitmire, will be reviewed on this blog, so stay tuned.

Reading-Rewards

I'd like to suggest a web site for the kids in your life. It's fun, it's free, and you can find it at
www.reading-rewards.com

Welcome to Reading Rewards!

The reading incentive program for kids that actually gets them off their computers, games consoles, etc, and encourages them to read!

How does it work? It's simple. Kids accumulate 'RR' Miles on the site, which they can exchange for fun and sometimes silly things on the site: joke of the day, video of the day (always safe, kid-friendly videos our editors find), mini-games, and more.

How do they accumulate RR Miles? By reading, and telling us what and how much they read! They'll get bonuses for reviewing their books, and making recommendations to friends.

A fun dashboard gives them a quick view of their friends, their status updates, what they're reading and how much. This actually makes reading really cool!

As an added bonus, parents and/or other sponsors can set up and track their own reading reward programs. For example, 1 outing to the movies for every 600 minutes reading. It's up to you!

Best of all, it's free! Just register, sign in, and get started. It's fast, simple and easy to use. We're hoping our community of young readers will grow and grow and get kids talking and sharing about their books. If an occasional bribe from parents is necessary, so be it!

So sign up, and take us for a spin!

Future bestselling authors from North Carolina and New York

MrsP.com Announces Winners of First Nationwide Kids’ Writing Contest

Future bestselling authors from North Carolina and New York

January 15, 2010 - MrsP.com announced today the names of the two Grand Prize winners in its first annual “Be a Famous Writer” contest. Gabrielle Fuller, 8, from North Carolina, takes top honors in the 4- to 8-year-old category with her comic fairy tale, “Pretty Princess and Funky Frog.” In the 9- to 13-year-old category, Isabella Penola, 12, from New York, charmed the panel of famous judges with her poignant tale of an elderly gardener, “Spattered Mud and Crushed Petals”.

“Like everyone, I’m concerned about the state of education in America. But based on the quality of writing for my contest, I’m happy to say a lot of teachers out there must be doing a wonderful job,” said TV star Kathy Kinney, who portrays Mrs. P and is one of the creators of the website.

The Grand Prize winners will have their stories produced as videos featuring Mrs. P, which will be presented on her popular free, interactive digital website. Original artwork by award-winning illustrator, Robin E. Kaplan, will help bring the stories to life. The videos will be posted for a limited time on the website (www.MrsP.com) beginning in March for viewers all over the world to watch and enjoy. In addition, each winner will receive an actual bound copy of the story and illustrations as a keepsake to treasure for years to come. Powell’s Books (www.Powells.com), the largest independent bookseller and the sponsor of the contest, will provide the Grand Prize winners as well as the 8 other finalists with gift certificates to its store.

The judges for the writing contest included four top professionals in the writing field: Dave Barry, Pulitzer Prize-winning humorist and author of dozens of bestselling books; Andre Bormanis, writer and producer of the popular fantasy series, Legend of the Seeker and author of Star Trek: Science Logs; Craig Ferguson, host of the CBS Late Late Show and author of the acclaimed novel, Between the Bridge and the River; and Diana Leszczynski, author of Fern Verdant and the Silver Rose, a comic adventure recently selected as a Smithsonian Notable Children’s Book and currently being developed as a motion picture.

The MrsP.com writing contest is an annual event and runs every September. It was created along with the website to encourage a love of reading.

Newspaper

For years, PooPa faithfully went out in the morning, did her business, and brought back the newspaper.

Then, one day, I said to my wife, “Isn’t it great how the dog brings in our paper every morning?”

She gave me the strangest look, so I asked, “What’s the matter?”

My wife shook her head and said, “But we don’t subscribe the paper.”

PooPa The Pirate

The contract has been signed, and my next action-adventure & mystery is due for release on or about June 1, 2010. By the end of this year, two more titles are planned for release. The June book doesn't have a pirate in it...not the kind you'd think of that is.  The manuscript is finished, and I know the title, but I'll wait and share that with you later.

So, this PooPa picture should start you thinking about this new book about boys, a terrible storm, lost at sea, on an island, with some very...very scary men chasing them.

One Cat Wins...One Cat Has To Lose

It was a great game of epoch proportions.

Northwestern came back from several points down to tie and send the game into overtime. Unfortunately, their kicker couldn't deliver field goals or extra points when needed. I've never seen a game finish so many times : ))

Either way, we knew one cat had to lose and one would win. We kept in touch with cell calls and texts to our Northwestern (Wildcats) and Auburn (Tigers) graduates who attended the game. What fun game to watch. Congratulations to Auburn...War Eagle!
